How Long Does an EPC Take? A Step-by-Step Guide

·4 min read

Wondering how long an EPC assessment will take? From booking to receiving your certificate, here's exactly what to expect at every stage.

One of the most common questions we receive is: how long does an EPC assessment take? The short answer is that the on-site visit is typically 30 to 60 minutes, and you'll receive your certificate within 24 hours of the assessment. Here's a more detailed breakdown.

Step 1: Booking (5 minutes)

Use our online contact form to submit your details and we'll confirm your appointment within a few hours. We offer morning, afternoon, and Saturday slots across Lambeth, Wandsworth, and Southwark.

Step 2: The on-site assessment (30–60 minutes)

Our assessor will visit your property and carry out a room-by-room inspection. They will record information about your heating system, hot water supply, insulation, windows, lighting, and ventilation. No drilling, no damage; it's entirely non-invasive.

Step 3: Processing and lodging (same day or next day)

After the visit, our assessor processes the data using government-approved software and produces your EPC. The certificate is then lodged on the official EPC register, usually within a few hours of the visit and always within 24 hours.

Step 4: Receiving your certificate (within 24 hours)

You'll receive your EPC as a PDF by email, along with the official register reference number. The certificate is immediately searchable on the government EPC register at gov.uk.
