ECO4 is the current phase of the Energy Company Obligation scheme, running until March 2026. It provides fully funded insulation, heating upgrades, and other energy improvements to eligible households. To qualify, you typically need to be on certain means-tested benefits, or live in a property with an EPC rating of D or below. A Retrofit Assessment (PAS 2035) is required to access ECO4 funding.
The Great British Insulation Scheme provides single insulation measures, such as loft insulation or cavity wall insulation, to properties in Council Tax bands A to D, or to households on means-tested benefits. The scheme covers the cost of the measure itself, subject to a contribution in some cases. A Retrofit Assessment may be required.
The Boiler Upgrade Scheme offers grants of £7,500 towards the cost of installing an air source heat pump, and £7,500 for a ground source heat pump. Unlike ECO4, there is no income threshold, it is available to any property owner replacing a fossil fuel heating system.
